Mint City Cards | Western Colorado's vintage card specialist
Over 25 years experience
Sports cards deserve more than a quick glance and a low offer.
I buy and consign vintage card collections. I'll come to you, wherever you are in Colorado or Utah.
I'm Ryan. Whether you've inherited a collection or held onto one for decades, you deserve an honest answer about what it's actually worth. Not a rushed assessment. Not a quick offer designed to move you along. A real evaluation from someone who takes the time to understand what you have and who will explain your options clearly so you can decide what feels right.
Some collections are best suited for a straightforward cash offer. Others, particularly pre-1970 vintage cards, do significantly better through consignment to national auction. I'll walk you through both honestly, with no pressure either way.

Why Ryan at Mint City Cards?
Service Area
You don't need to know anything about card values, grading, or the market. That's my job. Here's all it takes:
1. Send a few photos or give me a call. Nothing formal, just some overall shots of the collection and whatever cards you think might be the best ones. It helps me understand the scope and era before I visit. Text them to 970-201-3602 or email mintcitycards24@gmail.com.
2. I come to you for a free evaluation. I'll look through everything carefully and give you an honest picture of what you have — condition, era, value range, and what I'd recommend. No pressure to sell anything on the spot.
3. You decide what happens next. Cash offer today, consignment to auction, or just the information and no sale at all — it's your call. I'll explain the options and let you take the time you need.

WHAT DO I BUY?
All cards really, but my focus is on vintage cards (pre 1980s). All sports and non-sports cars are welcome. I also buy modern cards.
I typically do not buy 80s or 90s cards, as they are fondly referred to as the "Junk Wax Era" (due to ridiculous overproduction). I will however wrap them into an offer to move the entire collection.
FREE APPRAISALS
I offer free appraisals. I find this is a great way to build the buyer/seller relationship. This can be as involved as you would like it to be. Some people have an idea of what they want for their collection and some people need the help.
Ebay and other large online auction houses still hold the market on card values. Be wary of new apps to price your cards. Condition and graded versus ungraded is key!
KNOWLEDGE
No secrets here. I find educating a seller on the current market, card conditions, grading concepts, etc. goes a long way in establishing trust in the buyer/seller relationship. I want you to fully understand the process and feel great about the deal.

Most local sports card dealers may be interested in buying your collection but only if they know they can turn it around for a profit quickly and will likely not offer you representative value.
"One family received $2,000 cash the day we met for a vintage collection. Then another $15,000 from their share of a national auction."
Most collections are worth more than a quick look will tell you.

Service Area
I travel so you don't have to.

Grand Junction is home, but it's not a limit. I regularly travel throughout the Western Slope, across Colorado, and into Utah to evaluate collections in person.
For collections further out, we start with photos and a phone call and I'll figure out how to get there for the right collection. Face-time and Zoom also make longer-distance conversations easy before any in-person visit.
You should never feel like geography is a reason to settle for a worse deal.

I go out of my way to meet you where you feel comfortable. If that means your living room in Montrose, a storage unit in Price, Utah, or your mother's house in Glenwood Springs — I can make it happen.
